MS William Shakespeare

We are proud to showcase here the state-of-the-art, five-star MS William Shakespeare - launched in 2014.

Specially commissioned and designed to our exacting specifications, she is, without doubt, one of the world's finest river cruise ships. We have worked tirelessly with one of Europe's most experienced and respected luxury shipbuilders, Veka Group, to create the perfect ship, featuring many unique, ground breaking innovations. The finest of materials have been used in construction with virtually no expense spared; its sustainably sourced tropical hardwoods, highly polished brass and wrought iron fittings, thick pile high-quality carpets, luxuriously comfortable deep armchairs and settees will absolutely delight you. In addition the ship's spacious layout, subtle and tasteful lighting, elegant décor, luxurious cabins and excellent facilities are undoubtedly the very best on cruise ships today.

Dining

High quality dining is an integral part of any river cruise experience, as exemplified aboard MS William Shakespeare. Guests will find five-star dishes awaiting in the two restaurants onboard, prepared by a team of dedicated and highly professional chefs, all served up by an attentive waitstaff.

Enrichment

For centuries people have travelled Europe's mighty rivers to trade, explore and, sometimes, conquer. Steeped in history and culture, flowing through stunning scenery they form natural links connecting the continent's greatest and most beautiful towns and cities, from the medieval to the modern.

Entertainment

The Sun Deck is the hub for entertainment onboard. The forward viewing area is perfect for watching the historic riverside villages, steep vine-clad valley sides and other scenic wonders glide serenely by. It's well equipped with plenty of comfortable outdoor chairs and sun-loungers, deck games including shuffleboard and giant chess, a small splash pool where you can cool off, and a full bar service. Sometimes barbecues are held here too, weather dependent of course - a great way to meet new people over a glass of wine.

Then, as the evening progresses into darkness, subtle lighting evolves down on the Hamlet Deck, through colour and intensity accompanied by gentle piano background music, creating a very special ambience. However should you prefer a good book to read you can always visit the library, which, with its leather-effect wall linings, offers a genteel environment reminiscent of the golden age of cruising.

Health & Fitness

Whilst onboard the MS William Shakespeare, why not take advantage of the Wellness area with its Sauna, Steam room and Whirlpool, or go up deck and visit the splash pool, the putting green and giant chess set- all great ways to spend an afternoon.

Kid & Teens

Please note: MS William Shakespeare does not provide facilities to accommodate Kids/Teens.

Gratuities

It is customary aboard all cruise ships worldwide to give a gratuity at the end of a cruise, providing, of course, you have received good service. The amount you give is entirely discretionary, and is then divided equally among the crew onboard. For guidance on the amount, Riviera Travel suggest between €5 and €10 per person per day.

Again at your discretion they also recommend tipping your local guides and drivers at the end of each tour, for which you can use the following guidelines:

  • Local guides €2 per person, per day
  • Drivers €1 per person, per day

Should you also wish to give a gratuity to your Riviera Cruise Director and Tour Manager, this is also at your discretion.
