The city receives in excess of 60 cruise ship visits per year and, upon arrival, it is easy to understand why. A charming city square blends with relics such as the City Hall and a statue of the local heroine, Maria Pita. One of the most instantly recognisable landmarks of the island is El Teide, which is the third highest volcano in the world when measured from its base on the ocean floor. A cable car ride to the top of this UNESCO World Heritage Site will give you a deeper understanding of the volcano, while also offering fabulous views over the island.
